COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: 16th Annual Citrus Memorial Ball

The black-tie event was held Saturday, May 16th at Black Diamond and raised over $50,000 for the planned Family Care Health & Education Center, a Citrus Memorial Health Foundation capital campaign project. The new center will be built at the Allen Ridge Medical Facility on CR 491 in Lecanto and will focus on health care education and family medical services. Jim McLaughlin and Amy Barbieri attended the event with their spouses and donated items for the silent auction. After the ball, the foundation is only $200,000 away from completing its goal to build the facility.
Your team has been actively involved with the foundation. We continue to be impressed with the excellent, leading-edge medical care in a warm, caring environment. Amy became inspired to get involved after a hospital visit for her son, and is now on the foundation's Advisory Council. The team "adopted" Room 115 in the Women's Unit- transforming it into "The Beach Room," complete with the sound of waves. Last fall Jim and Amy participated in a day long intern program at the hospital, and helped with the foundation's fundraising golf tournament in March. The team has also hosted several joint events with the foundation to help inspire clients and friends to give back. We would like to commend our clients who have already stepped up: thank you for leaving a legacy to the hospital in your estate plan and for donating artwork to display on the walls of Citrus Memorial.
Healthcare facilities nationwide face many challenges, including a rising population with limited or no health insurance. Support is needed now more than ever. The team actively participates in the Family Resource Center each year with Christmas gifts for children. They are also strong supporters of the Citrus Memorial Health Foundation, Hospice, the Florida Sheriffs' Youth Ranch, and community Little League. In addition, Tracy has been an active member of Kiwanis International, serving as Distinguished Past President of her local club in 2003-2004; and Amy is a board member and officer of the Citrus County Education Foundation.
