Originally from Durham, NC, Chip received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and spent two years stationed in Giessen Germany. In 1969, he returned to the US to begin his financial career as a trust officer for NCNB in Charlotte and later transferred to Hickory. He became an independent investment advisor agent in 1976 and joined Raymond James in 1989.

Chip Young is a Branch Manager and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER (CFP®) with Raymond James, in the firm’s Hickory, NC branch office. Chip believes the cornerstone of a successful client/advisor relationship is the mutual trust and respect that develops over time, and he is deeply committed to helping his clients realize their long-term financial goals. He provides a comprehensive approach to wealth management, risk management, retirement planning and estate planning to medical professionals and businesses. He works diligently to meet his clients’ expectations with exceptional customer service and the intention of being their trusted wealth advisor for life.

Chip has always been very active in the community and currently spends time working with the Western Piedmont Symphony and the Catawba Valley Camera Club. He enjoys world travel, golf, photography and entertaining his four grandchildren. Chip and his wife Lynn will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in October. They have two children, Frank and Catherine.
